2014: Homebuyers and Sellers, Make This Your Year
This year is going to be a great one to buy or sell a home. But if you want to be at the front of the pack, you need to plan ahead. Follow these simple tips to make the process easier.
Potential home sellers need time to prepare. If 2014 is the year for you, get started now. Arrange for an appraisal and inspection. That will let you know about problems you can fix before you list your home. But don’t invest too much money into renovations without a likely return on investment. Find the right agent to sell your home, and trust them to do what is right for you. It’s finally a seller’s market again, so take advantage of it.
Homebuyers should heed this advice, as well. Get your credit into its best shape. Even if you have had a recent short sale or foreclosure, you may still be able to get a home. When you are shopping around, don’t hesitate to ask very detailed questions about the home, the neighborhood and your potential neighbors. And when it comes time to make an offer, consider local trends before you set a number.
