Residents in the Carpinteria area are excitedly awaiting the 27th annual California Avocado Festival, which is slated to take place October 4 through October 6, 2013.

Billing itself as three days of “peace, love and guacamole,” the event is the perfect occasion for the whole family to attend. Santa Barbara County is host to the festival because it is the third largest producer of avocados in North America.

Besides getting an opportunity to meet fellow members of the community, you will enjoy the anticipation of seeing who will win the largest avocado of they year contest in between sampling the finest recipes for this beloved staple of dips, nachos and sandwich toppings.

There will also be plenty of music to enjoy, with live entertainment from performers such as Bad Jack, the Kicks and Reluctant Hero.
