Go “Green” with Spring Cleaning
Spring cleaning is the one time of the year where many people deep clean their homes and rid their houses of clutter, dust and debris. While the results are always enjoyable, the cleaning process can be challenging. Traditional cleaning products are filled with harsh chemicals, many linked to negative health ailments. Asthma, sinusitis, bronchitis, and allergies can all be affected when you come in contact with these chemicals. Go “green” this spring by choosing greener cleaning products or by making your own.
Buy “Green” Cleaning Products
Many manufacturers now recognize the benefits of more natural, “green” cleaning products. These eco-friendly cleaners can now be purchased at many stores. Since some can be costly, many people prefer to make their own natural cleaners.
Make “Green” Cleaning Products
Products including baking soda, white vinegar, borax, table salt, lemon juice, and isopropyl alcohol can act as disinfectants and can clean and deodorize surfaces. Make your own all-purpose house cleaner by combining ½ cup vinegar, ¼ cup baking soda and 2 quarts of water. Store in a clean spray bottle and rip up old t-shirts or towels to use as rags.
